At
the turn of the century, this building was the Buckley Brother's
General Store, the largest general store in Fairfax County. The
brothers used the slogan "…everything from a pin to a plow." Over
the years, this building has housed many retail businesses as well
as the Buckley's Inn. The name Heart in Hand was selected as a tribute
to our forefathers who worked hard with their hands through the
love in their hearts. We hope that each customer realizes how much
hard work and love has made the Heart in Hand a special place.
The Worsham family, Clifton residents since 1971, founded the restaurant
in 1982. It began as a one room lunch and tea room to interest shoppers
to the historic town of Clifton. Due to customer request, dinner
and holiday meals were added. Soon after, the restaurant branched
out to include catering services. Today, the restaurant is open
for lunch, dinner, and Sunday brunch.
We have been fortunate to have had many famous guests dine at our
restaurant, as well as you from next door. We have had the pleasure
of serving Nancy Reagan and George Will on several occasions, Supreme
Court justices, Congressmen, Senators, and other notable Washington
celebrities. We have also had many guests from the entertainment
industry: Rosemary Clooney, Cybil Shepherd, Don Defore, the cast
of CATS, and several others. The restaurant also served as the opening
scene for the movie Broadcast News, starring William Hurt and Holly
Hunter.
Our catering department, which travels the metropolitan area, has
catered events for Carol Burnett, Maya Angelo, Toni Morrison, Naomi
Judd, Lauren Bacall, Christopher Reeves, Richard Dreyfuss, and many
others. We offer full service catering for receptions, private parties,
corporate events, tailgate parties, and even picnics. On site, we
are pleased with our newly completed garden terrace area. It has
a radiant heated floor that enables year-round use for parties,
receptions, and corporate events. We are delighted to have you dine
with us and hope you enjoy the ambiance of the Heart in Hand as
well as the charm of historic Clifton. We appreciate your patronage
and hope to see you again soon!
